Where has the gospel gone? Too many books right now focus on methods and programs, and how you can have that mega church that you’ve always dreamed of. I spent three hours in a Christian bookstore last week and was amazed at the amount of books that are written today for “Christians”. Sadly much of the content in many of these books are self -help, self-prospering, and self-centered. Christ, the gospel, and His word are left out.

Same for Christian radio and TV. There are a few programs on TV that actually preach the gospel, but the majority all want you to know how you can be blessed by giving a little “seed” money. Radio is following the trend as well. There are still a good many radio programs out there but doctrine, gospel, and truth are hardly popular topics anymore.

With all three media outlets, it is necessary to play some “D”. Discernment that is. Measure your resources against the Bible and what it teaches. Measure the content of the pastors you listen to against the what the Bible says as well. If you aren’t sure of the content, then as the Bereans did with Paul, search the Scriptures and know for yourself what the Bible says. Stop looking to books and men to guide you through life, and look to the Father who has your best interest at heart.
